Open Evenings

Before signing up we recommend you come down to an open evening to check we’re the right fit for you. We’re entirely volunteer run and members are expected to pitch in and help out with the running of the community however they can. It’s how we keep our monthly fees cheap.

Our open evening tours run most Wednesdays. Tours start at 18:30 and 20:00 and last about 30-45 minutes. There is no need to book. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start promptly.

The tour will include:

  • Walk through our tools, facilities and equipment.
  • Talk through how the space is managed and run.
  • Some ideas about how you can get involved with the space.
  • A chance to ask any questions you might have about the space.

All members must attend a tour before being given independent access to the space, but you’re welcome to sign up and set up your subscription before then, so you’re ready to collect your key straight afterwards.

Please see our calendar before visiting to check the tour is running. There is no need to book. Tours do not run on days when Manchester City Football Club have a home game.

Finding Us

We are on the ground floor of Wellington House on the edge of Ancoats. Our front door is on the side of the building and has a pacman looking symbol painted on it and ‘HACMAN’ above it. There is a large green doorbell on the door itself, you might have to push it a couple of times for people to hear the buzzer over the noise of tools.

Accessibility

The space has one small doorstep to get in. Most of Hackspace is on one level, though the floor can be a little uneven in places. The Visual Arts area is on a raised platform with balustrades around all sides. The platform is accessed by a ramp to one side and stairs to the other.

There are no employed staff or cleaners at the space, therefore it cannot be guaranteed the floor will be kept clear, however the space is large enough that blockages are unlikely to prohibit flow around the space.

If you have further access questions please contact [email protected] and we will do our best to help.
